T-shirt design for the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii

The U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii sought to update their t-shirt collection to celebrate the release of a stamp commemorating Shiroku Yamamoto, a volunteer at the museum for over 20 years. Mr. Yamamoto was part of the 100th Battalion/442nd “Go For Broke” group. Through his volunteer work at the museum, he told the stories of the brave Japanese American soldiers who won medals of honor in WWII. A key component of the mission of the museum is to honor the Nisei American soldiers.

The first t-shirt contains a military star in a flower, a logo that references the island’s flora and fauna. The second is a relief of Shiroku Yamamoto created by Antonio Alcalà to align with the release of the U.S. stamp. The color of this t-shirt is used in the museum’s main visual identity. The third is a design made up of many squares that create an original photo of Shiroku Yamamoto.
