Instagram art direction, copywriting, community management & archival creation for Alexei Borovik Ballet

A highly sought-after dancer, Alexei has made numerous appearances internationally and throughout Russia. In 1987, as a Premier Dancer of Perm Ballet, Alexei was honored with a decoration as "Merited Artist of Russia". In 1997, he toured China with The Stars of the American Ballet.

From 1992-2006, Alexei was a Principal Dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet. His repertoire includes principal roles in Giselle, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Don Quixote, and The Nutcracker, among others. Along with leading roles in the classical repertoire, he has taken up assignments in the ballets of George Balanchine, including Apollo, Rubies, The Four Temperaments, Tarantella, Serenade, Theme and Variations, and Stars and Stripes. Alexei has also danced in Hans van Manen's Grosse Fugue, Paul Taylor's Arden Court, Lynne Taylor Corbett's Great Galloping Gottschalk, and has created roles in many new ballets.

Alexei has taught ballet for over 30 years. He gives master classes to professional dancers and has open classes for adults.

The Instagram showcases archival clips from his roles as a Principal Dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet as well as a Premier Dancer with Perm Ballet. Tens of hours of film in Russian and English as well as photos from the last 30 years were digitized from print, cassettes, and CDs to create content for Instagram. Impressionist paintings and photos of the great Russian dancers from the 20th century demonstrate Alexei’s artistic influences. Quotes from poets like Baudelaire and entertainers like Josephine Baker communicate Alexei’s breadth of inspiration.

Mégane Barile contributed art direction to the grid and Instagram stories. Management of the social account coincided with classes given on Zoom during the pandemic. Different color Instagram stories signal whether a class announcement is for in-person or on Zoom. Testimonials display Alexei’s strengths as a teacher and the highlights include performances of his choreography as well by First State Ballet Theatre.

In 30 days, accounts reached increased by 2,704%. Accounts engaged increased by 8,200% and total followers increased by 22.3%.
