The pieces were created in quarantine between 2020 and 2021. The artist was reading this book called Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman about the nature of time. The fabric of space time is a webbing, so the artist began sculpting these flora and fauna out of that digital material. The pieces are suspended and almost frozen, just like the world was during quarantine, yet there’s a dynamism and an energy to them, reflecting the desire to be released from that situation.

// AEGEAN was also inspired by the way Calder suspended sculptures in mid-air and wanted to feel like these were pieces coming out of the wall towards the viewer.

The pieces were used as backgrounds for interviews on MSNBC, Bloomberg, and more. They are also used in a pitch deck for a crypto firm’s fundraising round.
